A próxima edição da Bienal de São Paulo, um dos eventos internacionais mais importantes da agenda anual da cidade, promete questionar o formato tradicional das bienais, representado principalmente pela de Veneza, com artistas do mundo todo expostos em grande mostra de artes plásticas.
A 28.a edição da Bienal de São Paulo, projeto do curador Ivo Mesquita, terá um andar ´biblioteca´, com documentos e históricos das bienais, um andar ´o vazio´, totalmente desocupado, que pretende gerar reflexão sobre o momento atual das artes no Brasil e no mundo e um andar térreo ´praça´, com programação de performances, vídeos e palestras. BIENNAL WITHOUT PLASTIC ARTS
The next Sao Paulo Biennal edition, one of the most important international events in the city’s schedule, promises to question the traditional biennal formats, represented principally by Venecia, with artists from all over the world.
The 28.th Sao Paulo Bienal edition, project of the curator Ivo Mesquita, will have a ‘library’ floor, with documents and histories of the biennals, and ‘empty’ floor, totally empty, that aims at stimulating thought on the arts’ current moment in Brasil and in the world, and a ‘plaza’ land floor, with a program of performances, videos and workshops. CEM ANOS DE JAPÃO
. O colégio Campos Sales (1912) em ruìnas será restaurado para sediar o Museu Manabu Mabe, no bairro da Liberdade, como parte das celebrações do centenário da imigração japonesa no Brasil. O novo museu custeado em R$10 milhões deve ser inaugurado até meados de 2008 e terá como base a união das duas nacionalidades -brasileira e japonesa- por meio da arte. . A Comissão de Proteção da Paisagem Urbana (CPPU) aprovou o projeto de revitalização e modernização da Liberdade, que tem como pontos altos hologramas e vitrines eletrônicas. Outras ações no bairro incluirão troca e manutenção das luminárias, alteração e recuperação de fachadas, entre outros investimentos focados no potencial turístico do bairro.
A HUNDRED YEARS OF JAPAN
The Campos Sales (1912) school ruins will be restored to house the Manabu Mabe Museum, in the Liberdade neighborhood, as part of the hundredth year commemoration of the japanase immigration in Brasil. The new museum estimated at R$10 million will be inaugurated until middle of 2008 and will have as base the union of two nationalities - brasilian and Japanese – through art. A Galeria Vermelho, representante de mais de 40 artistas, dobrou de tamanho ao anexar o edifício vizinho. A reforma assinada por Paulo Mendes de Rocha e José Armênio Cruz deu à galeria 500m2 extras, uma loja e um mirante, tornando-a um complexo para mostrar e vender artes visuais na cidade. Um mercado que movimenta localmente R$2 bilhões por ano - a venda de flores e plantas ornamentais - ganhará uma base permanente para a atividade, o Mercado de Flores, projetado para ser um atrativo turístico e de negócios para São Paulo, com conclusão prevista para a primavera de 2008. Localizado em frente ao atual CEAGESP, o complexo incluirá além do atacado e varejo de plantas, flores e produtos de jardinagem, um mezanino com restaurantes, bares, cafés, livrarias e postos dos Correios, com investimento de R$20 milhões
A market that moves locally R$2 billion per year – the sale of flowers and ornamental plants – will gain a permanent base for its activities, the Flower Market, projected to be a tourist and business attraction for Sao Paulo, with conclusion planned for spring 2008.
